Aston Martin has reasserted itself at this year’s Auto Trophy vote of the German motoring magazine Auto Zeitung as the most popular foreign sports car brand. The readers of Auto Zeitung voted Aston Martin five times onto the podium: The Aston Martin Rapide finished first in its category, taking an Auto Trophy 2011 home. A second place went to both the Aston Martin DBS and the Aston Martin Virage, as well as a third place to not only the Aston Martin V8 Vantage alone but also the DB9 Volante.
In the category of Luxury class Import the Aston Martin Rapide triumphed with 30.7 percent of the readers’ votes for the third consecutive year with an impressive lead over the runner-up. In the category of Sports cars Import the Aston Martin Virage achieved 15% of the votes, behind by only a smidge to the winner, landing in a narrow second place. The Aston Martin V8 Vantage received 10.1 percent of the readers’ votes securing the bronze medal in this category. In consideration of all of these votes, more than a quarter of the readers voted for Aston Martin alone.
Another third place was reserved for the Aston Martin DB9 Volante in the assigned rating of Convertibles over 30.000 € Import. The convertible received 9.2 percent of the readers’ votes. In the category Super sports cars Import, the readers of Auto Zeitung voted the DBS into second place.
The Auto Trophy vote of the Auto Zeitung magazine was held for the 24th time this year. A total of nearly 98 000 readers participated, whom were asked to choose their favorites from nearly 400 vehicle models in 29 categories.
